>> Call for Papers "42nd American Indian Workshop: The Sovereign Erotic" (Deadline: 8. Jänner 2021)
Proposals are invited for the 42nd annual AIW conference, organized by European University Cyprus in association with Transmotion journal, to be held from 12-17 July 2021. Papers are, as always, welcome on any topic in any discipline, though distinct priority will be given to papers that speak to the conference theme. Following the conference, a special issue of Transmotion will be dedicated to articles developed from papers presented at this event. 
Proposals for panels and roundtables with 5 participants are especially welcome, as are proposals for discussions that seek to work creatively with the online environment. The major focus of the conference is on the Indigenous peoples of North America, but comparative global work is also welcome.
Due to considerations surrounding international travel during the pandemic, the conference will take place online using the Zoom platform. There will be a conference fee of €30 (€20 for graduate students, independent scholars, and retired faculty).
Abstracts of not more than 300 words should be submitted to conference organizer James Mackay at j.mackay(at)euc.ac.cy, by January 8th, 2021. Please include the words “AIW 2021 submission” as the subject line.

>> Call for Papers "Americans in Vienna, 1945-1955" (Deadline: 15. Jänner 2021)
The Center for Austrian and German Studies (CAGS) at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies are inviting submissions for an April 27-28 2021 (online) conference, focusing on the varied presence of Americans in Vienna during the first decade after the Second World War. Papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Austrian-American History.
Submissions should be sent in English or German (300-500 words) to the scientific committee by 15 January 2021 at the addresscags(at)bgu.ac.il, accompanied by the CV of the author.

La Especialización y Curso Internacional en Estudios Afrolatinoamericanos y Caribeños identifica en la colonialidad un patrón de poder que impone una clasificación étnico-racial sobre la población, analiza cómo opera en los ámbitos sociales, y da cuenta del crecimiento en el plano académico de la organización intelectual y política de negras y negros latinoamericanos y caribeños y de una producción teórica e intelectual afro-orientada que indaga y enfrenta el racismo en sus múltiples dimensiones y niveles, desde una perspectiva crítica y emancipadora.

>> Call for Papers "Estuaries and the Anthropocene" (Deadline: 15. Februar 2021)
Texas A&M University at Galveston invites proposals for a one-day, virtual symposium, Estuaries and the Anthropocene. This event will bring together scholars from across the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields to explore the multifaceted connections between human societies and estuarine environments during both historical and contemporary time periods. As we daily face the multiplying threats posed by anthropogenic climate and environmental change, coastal communities—like those around Galveston Bay, one of the largest estuaries in the United States—must understand these challenges, dangers, and opportunities in order to adapt to their changing worlds. The conference will take place virtually on May 21, 2021, featuring interdisciplinary panels and will conclude with a keynote address from Prof. Jack E. Davis, the author of The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea and the recipient of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for History.
The symposium invites proposals that consider the intersection of humans and estuaries from any disciplinary background. The multifaceted relationship between human societies and the environment necessitates study from multiple angles. Thus the symposium welcomes participants at all career levels from the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. The symposium is also interested in how this relationship resonates beyond the academy and will consider proposals from artists, activists, and anyone else working at the confluence of human societies and estuaries. Given the symposium’s embrace of diverse disciplinary perspectives, we are likewise interested in diverse methods of presentation beyond traditional papers, including, but not limited to, posters, speed talks, and PechaKucha. Research presented at the symposium can embrace a wide array of source bases including archival research, artistic expressions, interviews, biological and social samples, modeling, network analyses, and research designs.
Proposals should be no more than 300 words, indicating the method of presentation, and include a CV. Additionally, the symposium’s proceedings will be considered for publication in an edited collection. Email submissions to symposium organizer Blake Earle, tbe(at)tamug.edu, by February 15, 2021.

The Elisabeth-List Fellowship Research Group "Intimate Readings" invites you for a lecture on “Public Feelings in a Time of Pandemic” by affect scholar Ann Cvetkovich (Carleton University, Ottawa) on January 14, 2021, followed on January 15, 2021 by a one-day symposium that presents the provisional results of a collaborative book project on affect and narrative theory with a focus on the topics of gender and sexuality. 
The event is co-hosted by Karl-Franzens-University Graz (KFU) and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and will be held online via FAU-Zoom. Please register by January 11, 2021 at grazaffect(at)gmail.com
