More than half a century ago, the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the world to the brink of annihilation. Six decades later, great power competition and the threat of nuclear war have returned with a vengeance. As part of the International Inter- American Studies Lecture Series, Dr. Jeremy Stöhs will explore one of the most critical periods of the 20th century and discuss the relevance of past decisions and events in understanding the conflicts of today.

Dr. Jeremy Stöhs is an Austrian-American security and defense analyst, who studied history, English, and political sciences in Graz, Germany, and the United States. He co-heads the Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies, edits the center’s Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS) and Pantier Report, and is a nonresident fellow at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK). Jeremy has a background in law-enforcement and currently is the managing director of SICHER LEBEN, which focuses on domestic security topics. Jeremy has published several books and articles, regularly teaches at universities and defense colleges, and is a frequent commentator on security related issues in national and international media.
