The year 2022 marks the centenary of the publication of T.S. Eliot’s poem The Waste Land. To mark this important event, the European Association Of American Studies (EAAS) organizes a conference in Madrid, Spain on the topic of expanding the idea of the wasteland to the study of the United States, reflections around the concept of “wasteland” and waste, and the concept of waste in U.S. culture, history, and politics.
As part of this conference, C.IAS members Frederick Reinprecht, Barbara Ratzenböck, Nicole Haring, and Roberta Maierhofer presented their papers.
