GUSEGG Seminar 4: Mediation and Memory: Tradition and Transformation in Jewish Life

David Herzog Fonds Scholarships for GUSEGG Seminar 4: Mediation and Memory: Tradition and Transformation in Jewish Life

We are happy to announce that the David-Herzog-Fond (DHF) will support GUSEGG 2022 students engaging in Jewish Studies with five scholarships. The aim of David Herzog Fund is the promotion and support of intercultural understanding and learning with regard to Jewish culture: https://david-herzog-fonds.at/en/the-dhf/. Students intending to participate in the Seminar 4: Mediation and Memory: Tradition and Transformation in Jewish Life are encouraged to apply to the DHF to receive € 1.000,- for accommodation and participation fee, and € 700,- for travel expenses: David-Herzog-Fund grant to promote student mobility as well as for scientific and artistic projects - David-Herzog-Fund of the Styrian Universities (david-herzog-fonds.at)

Seminar 4: Mediation and Memory: Tradition and Transformation in Jewish Life taught by Cheryl Lester and Philip Barnard of the University of Kansas, USA, will explore relations of memory, tradition, and transformation in narratives of Jewish experience. Spanning from the founding narratives in the Torah or Hebrew Bible to literary-historical texts of the post-modern present, this seminar will explore the production and transformation of Jewish traditions, practices, and peoplehood.

Please note: It is a two-step process, direct application to the DHF for the scholarship for Seminar 4, and a separate application to GUSEGG 2022. For information on how to apply for GUSEGG 2022, follow this link: Application - Büro für Internationale Beziehungen (uni-graz.at). Should there be any questions, please contact: gusegg(at)uni-graz.at.
