Intergenerationality in Digital Landscapes

In the upcoming virtual AiD workshop Nicole Haring and Stephanie Hatzifilalithis will present Intergenerationality in Digital Landscapes.

Register here.

This workshop will focus on defining the ‘intergenerational’. The aim will be to provide an overview of where the field is currently and help think through core concepts and ideas around intergenerationality. We will then situate our understanding and focus on a case study of intergenerational digital storytelling from a feminist perspective. This will be an interactive 1.5h workshop. You can expect to look through your personal archive (camera roll, photo-album) and find a picture to start a conversation around the ‘intergenerational’.

Stephanie Hatzifilalithis earned her PhD in Social Gerontology at McMaster University and is currently a Researcher with the Women’s Age Lab at Women’s College Hospital and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging. Stephanie has been awarded a SSHRC doctoral scholarship, Ontario Graduate/Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology, and a Wilson Leadership Scholar Award. Her work has focused on intergenerational dynamics, co-housing, and ageism and brings an interdisciplinary lens to challenges facing aging populations with a BSc Hons in Psychology from the International Faculty of The University of Sheffield and a MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from University College London, UK. Alongside Dr. Nicole Dalmer, her Postdoctoral work looks at how older people’s digital landscapes are designed, experienced, and embodied.

Nicole Haring is a PhD candidate at the Center for Inter-American Studies at the University of Graz, Austria working on gender and aging studies, feminist theory and pedagogies. She holds two master’s degrees, one in education (English & Geography) and one in English and American Studies both from the University of Graz. Recently, she has finished a Fulbright scholarship at the University of Oklahoma (2019-2020) and was the holder of the Elisabeth-List-Fellowship for Gender Studies at the University of Graz (2020-2021). Currently, she holds the DOC Fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Science (2021-2024) to work on her dissertation project on intergenerational storytelling.
