Graz University Summer School Seggau (GUSEGG)

Since 2008, the Center for Inter-American Studies at the University of Graz has been organizing a summer school on current international challenges, which became known in 2014 under the acronym GUSEGG (for Graz University Summer School Seggau).

The summer school, which takes place annually in Seggau Castle near Leibnitz (Southern Styria), brings together students and teachers from all disciplines and from all over the world. The scientific exchange takes place in joint lectures by outstanding scientists with subsequent discussions, as well as in thematically structured seminar modules, which can be freely chosen by the participating students depending on their personal interests. In addition, joint leisure activities such as excursions to the Leibnitz area create the opportunity for scientific networking. The spacious complex of Seggau Castle, built in the 12th century by the Archbishops of Salzburg, with one of the largest and oldest baroque wine cellars in Europe, offers an excellent ambience with a unique atmosphere comparable to a university campus.

Graduates receive a certificate worth 6 ECTS credits for their successful participation (this includes the submission of an independently written seminar paper). Students can apply for a scholarship. The advertisement and the selection process are carried out by the Office for International Relations at the University of Graz.
