In her Lecture, Petö presented the impact of illiberal pragmatism and showed how privatization of education impacts not only gender studies and liberal arts but also the STEM field, as funding is distributed among creationism-based research. Petö also spoke of the disappearance of women within political discussions as they are only present as a part of the family and no longer seen as an entity of their own. Furthermore, to grasp just how dangerous illiberal states are for the sciences, Petö introduced the newly coined term "polypore state." The hybrid lecture opened the floor for further discussion on current issues within the academic world, not only in Hungary but worldwide.
