Diverse Identities in Classroom Settings

The aim of this research is to pinpoint potential areas of conflict in the context of diversity in the classroom, and create teaching material that supports teachers in addressing these areas in the English language classroom. Based on the research question: How can narrative didactics support teachers in promoting cultural awareness, and diversity awareness in the classroom?, qualitative research will be conducted and analyzed in order to gain insight into the perspectives on diversity in the school setting of both teachers and students. Following this analysis, project material will be created, which will include literature analysis and narrative didactics, with the aim of addressing the topic of cultural diversity and diverse identities in the classroom, foster understanding of these concepts among the students, and promote a discourse within the school setting. In the course of the PhD project, the project material will be implemented in English lessons in Austrian schools, evaluated, and finally published.
